From Chapter 33 of 'Sense and Sensibility' by Jane Austen (1775-1817) first published 1818. This edition published in 1921 by Macmillan and Co. using Thomson's plates from 1896. Elinor is embarrassed by her brother John when he visits Berkeley Street where he is 'attentively civil' to Mrs Jennings beacuse of her wealth: 'Mrs. Jennings, however, assured him directly, that she should not stand upon ceremony, for they were all cousins, or something like it'
