Royal Standard is the personal flag of a sovereign of the United Kingdon; divided into four quarters; in two are the the three golden lions of England on a red background; in one quarter is the red lion of Scotland on a gold ground and the other shows the golden harp of Ireland on a blue background; the design of the Union Jack, also known as the Union Flag, dates from the Union of Great Britain and Ireland in 1801 and incorporates the Cross of Saint Andrew counterchanged with the Cross of Saint Patrick, over all the Cross of Saint George; illustration from the series of cigarette cards produced by Godfrey Phillips for the Coronation of George VI;
