George III bombe commode, c.1760-65 (rosewood, fruitwood & marquetry)

the mounts attributed to Dominique Jean Veneered overall with quarter-veneered parquetry, the ormolu-bound serpentine-fronted top centered by a marquetry panel depicting a neoclassical urn profusely filled with blossoming flowers, the Greek-key handles suspending floral swags, the corners inlaid with trompe l'oeil rose sprays, the molded cornice above two long drawers mounted with rosettes and cornucopia handles with diaper and mask backplates, all within cabochon and acanthus borders, the apron with central Zephyr-mask flanked by scrolling acanthus, the voluted legs headed by acanthus, the concave sides similarly panelled and mounted with a rosette within foliate borders, ending in scrolled feet on brass ball supports, the back and underside blackened, with pegged construction, the side of the top drawer stencilled C.H.T./635
