Christian martyr who died during the Diocletianic Persecution. It comes from the Church of Santa Lucia in Arcavell (Lleida). In the upper scene, St. Agatha came to Lucy in a dream while she was praying with his mother at her tomb in Catania, and St Agatha told her that because of her faith her mother would be cured and that Lucy would be the glory of Syracuse. In the central scene, the soldiers of the proconsul Pascacio unsuccessfully try to move Lucy after being sentenced to be defiled in a brothel. In the lower scene, bundles of wood were then heaped about her and set on fire, but would not burn so she met her death by the sword. Italian gothic. Tempera on wood. SPAIN.
