Formerly thought to be a portrait of Louis XVII of France (1785-95), Dauphin of France (1789-91); this identification is today not considered likely because if the little boy were royal, he would be wearing the sash of the Order of the Saint-Esprit and not a garland of flowers; yoyos were a very popular toy in France and the name of emigrette was given as it was one of the small toys that could be easily taken abroad by the children of émigré families fleeing France during the French Revolution; also known as 'bandalore', 'de Coblenz', 'joujou de Normandie';
