PLANE CRASH INVESITGATORS TAKES NOTES NEAR A BODY IN KATHMANDU, 1999-09-05 (photo)

Investigators take notes near a body as they investigate the wreckage of a Necon Air turbo-prop airliner which crashed near Kathmandu September 5. All 15 people aboard the airliner were killed when it hit a telecommunications tower and crashed on a hillside near Kathmandu, Nepalese rescue coordination officials said. They said the cockpit voice recorder of the British-designed HS-748 had been recovered at the crash site but the flight data recorder was still missing. A Necon Air statement said there were 10 passengers, including a child, and five crew members aboard the 44-seat, twin-engined aircraft. Seven of the passengers were Indian nationals. GC/JDP
