Eva Dickson, 1905-1938, Swedish adventurer, rally driver. The first woman to cross the Sahara by car. During the 1930s, she was called an adventurer. She made a bet in 1932 at the European Club in Nairobi that she could drive a car from Nairobi through the Sahara to Stockholm. She won the bet and here is a picture on her return to Stockholm with Hassan Ali. He met Eva on the way to the garage in Nairobi on the day of departure and became her fellow traveler. Eva Dickson's life ended in a dramatic car accident where she died instantly. She died aged 33 and is buried in Stockholm.
