Double page with plates 2 and 3 of “L'Histoire de France en 88 tableaux”” by Gustave Gautherot, professor at the Institut Catholique de Paris, edited in 1935 by the Maison de la Bonne Presse, 5 rue Bayard in Paris. In this book, the history of France (the eldest daughter of the Church and “the most beautiful kingdom after heaven” according to the authors) is written in the light of the Christian faith. Thus, Gaul is evoked both by historical facts (the conquest by the Romans) and by the legends of Catholicism (“good news”, saints, martyrs and miracles).
