Male supervisor with woman worker in Television assembly area, Plessey. Completing time and motion studies at Plessey. The company started in 1917 and grew from the early years of radio when they won contracts from Marconi to make receivers. Later they capitalised on the 1950s expansion and expertise gathered during wartime in telecommunications and particularly radar, Plessey evolved as formidable european producers of electronics and telecommunications. During the 1950s Plessey became the largest manufacturers of Television sets in Europe.
