Her right elbow leans upon a stone parapet, her head resting lightly on her hand. On the left below, sits her son. White open-necked shirt showing beneath a red tunic coat, light brown open sandals; long brown hair. His right hand rests on the stone bench. Very dim outline of buildings behind the figures, warm brown landscape with river on right, pinkish cloudy sky beyond. Inscribed on stone bench 'The Duchess of Grafton and her son'.
