A U.S. military humvee vehicle, equipped with rocket launchers, guards from atop a hill overlooking the Pentagon building in Arlington, Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC, on the anniversary of the attacks on America, September 11, 2002. With armed anti-aircraft missiles and troops in battle dress on guard, the Pentagon mourned its dead and thanked the living on Wednesday, one year after 189 people perished in a hijack attack on U.S. military headquarters.
