Palermo, The Royal Palace or Palazzo dei Normanni (Palace of the Normans), Pisana Tower, the King Roger Room: view of the Room which was commissioned by King Roger II d'Altavilla. It is characterized by large mosaic surfaces of great value representing plant elements and scenes of courtly and hunting style, symbols of the Norman power (hunting scenes with archers and deer, peacocks, swans, and mythological centaurs, griffins and other exotic animals among luxuriant vegetation). Mosaics are characterised by Greek Byzantine style (XIII century).Detail with leopards and palm and banana trees. Palermo, Palazzo Reale o Palazzo dei Normanni, Torre Pisana, Sala di Re Ruggero: mosaici della sala voluta da Re Ruggero II d'Altavilla. E' caratterizzata da ampie superfici a mosaico di grande pregio raffiguranti elementi vegetali e scene di carattere aulico e venatorio, simboli del potere normanno (battute di caccia con arcieri e cervi, rappresentati pavoni, cigni, oltre i mitologici centauri, grifi e altri animali esotici fra lussureggiante vegetazione). I mosaici sono di stile greco - bizantino (secolo XIII).Particolare con leopardi e alberi (banani e palme).
