"Tug" Wilson at El Teb. Captain Arthur Knyvet Wilson (who died an Admiral of the Fleet, but was always "Tug" to the Navy), though one of the smallest, was one of the bravest men in the Naval Brigade which landed on the Red Sea coast in 1884. The Arabs were flushed with victory when they attacked the British Square at El Teb, and for a time forced a gap in it which would have meant disaster. Wilson, however, sprang into the breach, and when his sword broke off short, he fought with his fists until the men closed up round him and rescued him with only one scalp wound. He subsequently received the VC. Illustration for one of a set of 50 cigarette cards on the subject of Sea Adventure, issued by Hignett Brothers in 1939.
