Agus Dabi, from the famous Dani tribe in Indonesia's remote Papua province, carries wood he will use to build a traditional hut near the highland town of Wamena August 24, 2003. Like a number of men his age, Dabi prefers traditional dress, including the penis sheath that is worn by several tribes in this area. Life for the Dani revolves around their clan, the raising of pigs and marking important events with feasts. Since the arrival of Christian missionaries several decades ago, they have largely given up their penchant for warring with competing tribes in great battles, although the occasional skirmish still breaks out, usually a dispute over women or pigs.
