INVESTIGATION ON THE GESTURE - UNESCO 1958 (b/w photo)

GESTIVALS Vittorio Gassman ( 1922- 2000) performs the interpretation of the theatrical gestures or "tragic attitudes" (Morrocchesi): right hand raised with index upwards, questioning look and half-open mouth. Possible meaning: Request for silence and pay attention to a distant sound. With other actors he participated in the world survey on the value of the gesture in human culture promoted by UNESCO at the V International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences held in Philadelphia in 1956, and that for Italy was conducted by dr. Romano Calisi and by Ando Gilardi. Later the director of the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions of Rome, prof. Tullio Tentori, understanding the value of research, joined the group as a conservative and archivist.
