Swartzska snus factory in Norrköping 1931. Interior from the factory premises at Skolgatan 1. The large snus mill was then the oldest and only one of its kind in Sweden. The snus factory was founded by Petter Swartz in the 18th century. The snus business did well and their products Swartzen's snus and Röda Lacket became popular all over the country, on of the oldest snus brands in existence. The snus factory and the secret snus recipe were passed down from father to son for five generations without interruption for 160 years. The factory was closed in 1931. Snus is placed between the upper lip and gum, not to be confused with "snuff" that in America is used to refer to the nasal form of tobacco.
