After the referendum, the southern part of Schleswig remained in the German Reich. In the first plebiscite set by the Treaty of Versailles, in the first referendum zone of North Schleswig on February 10, 1920, 74. 2% of the population voted for annexation to Denmark. In the southern part of the referendum area in North Schleswig on March 14, 1920, 81% of the population voted for staying in the German Reich. The new German-Danish border was established on May 26th.
