From ‘Historic, Military and Naval anecdotes, of personal valour, bravery and particular incidents which occurred to the armies of Great Britain, 1803-15, and her allies, in the last long-contested war terminating with the Battle of Waterloo’, published by Edward Orme, 1819. Field Marshal Henry William Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey, (17 May 1768 – 29 April 1854), cavalry commander in the British Army whose leg was blown off by cannon fire in the final moments of the Battle of Waterloo.
