THE 17 REMAINING WOMEN WHO IN 1951 TOURED EUROPE AS AMBASSADORS FOR BRITAIN WITH CHERIE BOOTH QC ON THE STEPS AT NO. 10 DOWNING STREET. The remaining seventeen Goodwill Ambassadors for Britain with Cherie Booth Q.C. (C), wife of British Prime Minister Tony Blair, on the steps of the rose garden at 10 Downing Street April 5, 2001. In 1951 24 young women from mixed backgrounds were handpicked from 1,700 volunteers, to travel through Europe following the war on a goodwill mission. The 17 remaining ladies re-visited No.10 Downing Street and in addition to having tea with the Prime Ministers wife they met Prime Minister Blair. This photograph is was taken to duplicate the original picture taken in 1951.
