China, 270 AD. Language: Chinese Source/Shelfmark: Or. 8211/733, Side B of a woodslip from Loulan (China) inscribed with a date corresponding to 270 AD. Even after the invention of paper, wood continued in use as a writing surface. This woodslip has writing on both sides. Found by Sir Marc Aurel Stein on his first Central Asian expedition, 1900-1901. Originally published/produced in China, 270 AD.
