A dense group of people, at the center of the composition, look dismayed at the opening of the sarcophagus and the raising of Lazarus, wrapped in swaddling clothes, assisted by a veiled apostle and by Saint Peter; the latter turns to the left, toward Jesus, who stands in front of the other apostles and Lazarus' sisters Mary and Martha, depicted in the act of calling back to life his dead friend; in a lobed cornice in the middle of the decorative band is depicted the Creation of Adam.
