St. John the Evangelist (San Giovanni Evangelista), by Bronzino, 1540-1545, 16th Century, fresco Detail. A particular of the vault in which is represented John the Evangelist, sitting on a cloud; the saint, his face portrayed in a profile, stares the horizon, the Vangel in his left hand and a quill in his right hand; he wears a light-coloured tunic, tied on a shoulder, and his legs are covered with a red drape; side by side with him, an eagle who looks at him with open beak, a claw gripping a sort of lid; the scene is defined by fruits and flowers garlands, sustained by two winged puttoes Bronzino Museum of Palazzo Vecchio
