The scene depicts the descent to Limbo; on the left side there is Jesus, who wears pure white clothes and is surrounded by light, holds in His left hand the banner with a red cross on white background while holds out the right one to an old man dressed in blue, who goes out of a cave; behind this man's back a crowd of saints and richly dressed men and women gathered in prayer, some standing, others on their knees; Jesus rests His feet on a slab of rock that crushes a devil, right under other winged devils' eyes, gathered inside a cleft of the rock, on the right edge Andrea di Bonaiuto Church of Santa Maria Novella
