Eden-Laval talks: discussing the Anglo-German naval agreement, published 1935. A meeting between the British Conservative politician Robert Anthony Eden (1897–1977), who served as Foreign Secretary and then Prime Minister (1955-57), and Pierre Jean-Marie Laval (1883–1945) who served as French Prime Minister from 1931-32 and 1935-36 before going on to serve in prominent roles in the Vichy Regime. Also in attendance are François Piétri (1882–1966), minister in several governments in the later years of the French Third Republic and French ambassador to Spain from 1940-44 under the Vichy regime, and writer, politician and influential senator Henry Bérenger (1867–1952).
