The U.S. Supreme Court rejected on November 3, 2003 appeals by Alabama's embattled top judge, Roy Moore, who has waged an unsuccessful legal battle to display the monument inscribed with the Ten Commandments at the state judicial building. Without comment, the high court refused to hear two appeals by Moore, who was suspended after refusing to comply with a federal judge's order in August to remove the granite marker because it violated constitutional church-state separation.
