FOR RELEASE WITH STORY BC-VIETNAM-HANNAH - Cold War radio star Hanoi Hannah, the voice of North Vietnamese wartime propaganda broadcasts to American GIs, stands on a street in Ho Chi Minh City, the defeated capital of U.S.-backed South Vietnam. Hannah, 67, whose real name is Trinh Thi Ngo ended her regular programmes in 1976, a year after the Vietnam War ended. Vietnam's communist government believes her efforts and those of others, helped undermine American will to continue the war. Today the country's leaders remain committed to the use of propaganda as a means of bolstering support and defeating peace-time enemies who might threaten their rule. Picture taken 1SEP97. VIETNAM
