Taiwan workers assemble motherboards on a production line January 14 at a suburban Taipei factory run by Asustek Computer Inc, one of the world's leading makers of the basic component of personal computers. Taiwan's closely watched electronics stocks rebounded dramatically on Wednesday after months in the doldrums, sending the Taiwan stock index to a 3.79 percent gain. Asustek led the pace, rising the seven percent daily limit or T$36 to T$562. Asustek said its 1997 sales and profits were so strong it was handing out annual bonuses equivalent to 18 months' worth of salary to staff. TAIWAN MARKETS
