Deserted boats abandoned by arriving immigrants stack up in the harbour at Gran Tarajal with a backdrop of the village on the Spanish Island of Fuerteventura off the northwest coast of Africa. In nearby coastal towns still more of the rickety skiffs stack up like firewood but still telling tales about the people who took them to sea in search of a better life in Europe.
