U.S. Vietnam war veterans Lawrence Colburn (L), a 51-year-old from Canton, Georgia, and Hugh Thompson (R), a 57-year-old from Lafayette, Louisiana, pose for a photograph with Do Ba, the Vietnamese man they rescued 33 years ago, in front of a statue dedicated to victims of the My Lai massacre on March 16, 2001. Helicopter pilot Thompson and door gunner Colburn rescued the 9-year-old Do Ba from a ditch in the central Vietnamese village during the massacre, in which 504 civilians - including 123 children under five - were killed by U.S. soldiers. The three men were reunited for an anniversary ceremony of the Vietnam War's most notorious massacre. RD/JD
