In 1855, Tripe was commissioned to take photographs for the British East India Company and the Madras Presidency which resulted in six albums. Madurai in the modern state of Tamil Nadu. Meenakshi Amman Temple is a Hindu temple located on the south side of river Vaigai in Madurai and is dedicated to Parvati / Meenakshi, and her consort, Shiva as Sundareswarar.
