Next to her, three-quarters right, Prince James in long robes, rose sleeves, and white pinafore, his hands folded ; a white cap on his head. Centre, full face, in rose with lace collar and slashed sleeves, Prince Charles, his left hand on a mastiff's head. To right Princess Elizabeth in blue dress, white yoke and cap, holding the infant Princess Anne, who, wrapped in white, lies on a rose silk drapery on a red covered chair. A spaniel on the ground before them. A gold or copper jug, and a basket of fruit, above, in right background. Inscribed REGIS MAGNAE BRITANIAE/PROLES/PRINCEPS CAROLUS NATVS 29 MAI 1630/JACOBVS DUX EBOR ACENCIS NATVS (14) OCTOB 1633/PRINCEPS MARIA NATA 4 NOVEMB 1631/PRINCEPS ELIZABETH. 28 DECEMB 1635./PRINCEPS ANNA. 19 MARTIS 1636. A copy of the portrait at Windsor Castle which is signed and dated 1637.
