Dutch William and Mary Marquetry Cabinet-on-Stand, c.1690-1700 (olivewood, ebony & marquetry)

The rectangular moulded cornice above a plain frieze inlaid with floral trails and acanthus strapwork scrolls and centred by a butterfly, above a pair of doors, each centred by an oval with a garlanded urn issuing a bouquet of flowers with tulips, roses, carnations and other flowers, the spandrels inlaid with further floral trails and acanthus scrolls and connected by rings, the divide inlaid with a ribbon-tied oak leaf, orange and foliate trail, enclosing a plain interior with two shelves, two drawers and three base drawers, the reverse of the doors inlaid with a lozenge-pattern in walnut and amaranth, above a conforming border, the open stand with a frieze inlaid with acanthus scrolls issuing floral trails, on spirally-turned legs above cubes inlaid with small flower bunches, joined by a waved X-shaped stretcher inlaid conformingly, the sides each with a oval inlaid with flowers issuing from an acanthus scroll, the spandrels inlaid with conforming ribbon-tied flowers, restorations, lacking bun feet.
