Finlay MacDonald performed at the Celtic Connections 20th Celebration concert, Royal Concert Hall Glasgow January 2013. He was one of the first students on the BA Scottish Music Course at the RSAMD and graduated in1999. He played with the Neilston and District Pipe Band over the world. He has played with some many folk bands - Deaf Shepherd, Old Blind Dogs, The Unusual Suspects, La Banda Europa, Scottish Power pipe band and Celtic Feet. Finlay's first album was released in 2000 to critical acclaim. The Finlay MacDonald Band consists of Finlay on pipes and whistles, Kevin MacKenzie on Guitar, Chris Stout on fiddle, John Speirs on Bass and Fergus MacKenzie on Drums. The band have two albums - Pressed for Time and ReEchoÓ 2007 which was in the Greentrax top 20 albums. The band was nominated in the best live act category in the Scottish Traditional music awards and they are one of the top festival bands on the traditional/Scottish Scene. The band has played at Glasgow and Aberdeen Hogmany events, T. V and radio performances throughout Europe, Tartan Week in New York and Celtic Connections. They combine virtuosic tune playing with energised arrangements
