The veteran journalist and broadcaster Sandy Gall, 84, has published his latest book War against the Taliban. It is an investigation into the conflict in Afghanistan. The former ITN reporter and News at Ten presenter has written several books and made three television documentaries on the country. He and his wife Eleanor have also set up Sandy Gall's Afghanistan Appeal to provide support for people who have lost limbs in Afghanistan. Sandy Gall, CBE is a Scottish journalist, author, and former ITN news presenter whose career as a journalist has spanned more than 50 years. Gall was born in Penang, Malaysia. In 1953 he joined Reuters as a foreign correspondent for whom he reported on the Suez Crisis in 1956, the Hungarian Revolution and the Congo Crisis. He reported on the Vietnam War and when Saigon fell he was forcibly removed from the country by the communist authorities. Gall also reported from Cambodia, China, Afghanistan, and Africa. Gall gave a talk at the Edinburgh International Book festival 2012 11 - 27 August 2012.
