Image description

Germanicus Julius Caesar (15BC-19AD) was the nephew and adopted son of the Emperor Tiberius, who became jealous of his military achievements. Accompanied by his wife and children, his death at Antioch, supposedly by poison, was believed by Agrippina to have been instigated by the emperor. She brought his ashes back to Rome in an urn, landing at Brundisium (Brindisi) and demanding justice.
