Diomedes, wounded by Pandarus, is comforted by Pallas Athene. Stenelos draws the arrow from his shoulders, while the comrades ward off the onrushing Pandarus, reaching for another arrow. Sketch for the painting in Mantua in the Sala della guerra, which on the left represents the struggle of Ideus and Phegeus, on the right the wounding of Diomedes. Bright red ink drawing.

Der durch Pandarus verwundete Diomedes wird von Pallas Athene getröstet. Stenelos zieht ihm den Pfeil aus den Schultern, während die Genossen den anstürmenden Pandarus, der nach einem weiteren Pfeil greift, abwehren. Entwurf zu dem Gemälde in Mantua in der Sala della guerra, welches links den Kampf des Ideus und Phegeus, rechts die Verwundung des Diomedes darstellt. Helle Bisterzeichnung.
