Folk Festivals (Colour Litho)

Folk festivals. A characteristic celebration - the Triumph of the Virgin - that had not been repeated for thirteen years, took place this year in Palmi, Calabria, with the transport, among countless crowds, of an eighteen-meter-high pyramid on which more than forty children depicting the Apostles, the Angels and, at the top, the Virgin took their seats. The colossal construction, which weighs twenty tons, is carried on the shoulder by two hundred men divided into categories, sailors, peasants, workers, cattle dogs and carters.
