The victims of the mountain. On a glacier in the Ziller Valley, near Innsbruck, two Viennese mountaineers perished falling into a deep crevasse. A rescue team, having recovered the bodies, was immediately able to report the misfortune, using racing pigeons from the Mayerhofen gendarmerie post, an eight-hour walk away. The pigeons in a few minutes brought news on the identity of the victims to the place of the gendarmerie, whose families could immediately be telegraphically informed.
