From a collection of sixteen medals commemorating battles of the Napoleonic Wars (1803-1815) and 3rd Mahratta War (1818), part of a series struck in 1820 under direction of James Mudie, to commemorate British Victories over the French. This medal depicts Field Marshal Henry William Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey (17 May 1768 – 29 April 1854), British army officer who lost his leg to cannon fire at the Battle of Waterloo.
