Gothenburg, Västra Götaland County, Sweden Good-bye to Salomon Andree and his two companions Strindberg and Fraenkel. The Swedish engineer and polar explorer Salomon August Andree (1854-1897) and his team tried from Spitzbergen to cross the North Pole in their balloon 'Adler'. The participants of the expedition were missing until one found remains northeast of Spitsbergen, including diaries and photographs in 1930.
