Man with barometric bomb fuse, Leeds, 1953. A worker sets a barometric fuse at Britannia Engineering. Barometric aircraft bomb fuses were designed to operate at a set height activated by air pressure. This model, possibly a type 867, may have been used to blast open a bomb casing full of flares to target an area on the ground for landing or bombing.
