Kelmscott Manor is a Grade I listed Tudor farmhouse adjacent to the River Thames built in 1570; the fireplace has the Turner crest sculpted in relief; panelling is hung with four of the series of mid-seventeenth century tapestries from Brussels or Antwerp, depicting the Life of Samson (Judges, 14-16); the pelmet on Morris's bed displays his poem 'For the bed at Kelmscott', composed in 1891 and embroidered by his daughter May Morris (1862-1938);
