Cover of 'The Million' (4th August 1894), featuring an illustration by Harry Tuck, portraying a pharmacist peddling his wares from a soapbox in the street. The 19th century saw a profusion of quack doctors who travelled around selling a wide range of remedies which they claimed could cure all sorts of diseases and ailments.
