An Australian female soldier places a single red rose on top of the 'Tomb of the Unknown Soldier' after dignatories, including Australian Prime Minister John Howard, had placed their own, seen in foreground, at the Australian War Memorial during Anzac Day (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) in Canberra April 25, 2001. Tens of thousands of Australians turned out for the 86th observance of Anzac Day, with memorial parades and services held throughout the country to honour the war dead and survivors.
