Sola Sierra tries to hand over an envelope to a guard at the entrance of the Armed Forces building in Santiago, March 6. The envelope contains a list of the people who disappeared during the 17-year dictatorship of Gen. Augusto Pinochet, urging him "to give back the dead to the living." Sierra's husband disappeared in 1976 and she has lost all hopes of finding him alive. She, like relatives of others, has expressed outrage over Pinochet's move to take up a permanent seat in the country's Senate, once he steps down as army commander-in-chief on March 10.
