U.S. four-man bobsleigh team 1, pilotted by Brian Shimer (bottom), start in the final of the seven-race World Cup bobsleigh four-man held at the 1998 Nagano Olympics bobsleigh course "the Spiral" in Iizuna-Kogen, northwest of Nagano, central Japan February 26. Shimer placed second in the combined overall standing and his four-man team took fifth in the 1996/1997 World Cup season after finishing second in the final race with a time of one minute and 47.43 seconds and maximum speed of 127.2 km/h.
