Sergeant Osmar Farias cries while Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez recounts the day his 1992 coup attempt failed, on National Military Reserve Day, April 10. Farias and 49 other military officers who were expelled from the armed forces after their participation in Chavez's failed coup attempt of February 4, 1992, were reinstated back into the forces today by the President during the ceremony. Chavez said Friday he intended to rule the country for the next 10 years, despite laws banning presidents from two consecutive terms in office and threatened to call a state of emergency in the coming days if Congress rejects his request for wider legislative powers.
