Hamburg, 1896 This colour etching is the product of deep biting a zinc plate and of one printing only. The colours are applied “à la poupée”. Illies, a Hamburg artist, became frustrated by printing in colour with more than one plate developed his own technique of deep etching in order to isolate colour fields
