A Vought F4U-1D Corsair, a WWII naval fighter aircraft also known as the "Bent Winged Bird" or "Whistling Death" by Japanese forces, is displayed at the National Air and Space Museum's new Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, an annex to the main museum, at Dulles International Airport in Chantilly, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, December 11, 2003. The museum held a dedication ceremony Thursday, attended by U.S. Vice President Richard Cheney, actor John Travolta and other luminaries, and will open to the public on December 15, two days prior to the 100th anniversary of the first powered flight by the Wright Brothers on December 17, 1903.
