A toy room, 1890. Satirical lithograph showing the Prince of Wales (1841-1910, later King Edward VII), wearing children's clothes, surrounded by toys, dolls and games including a working exhibit entitled the 'South Kensington Exhibition' , which requires the user to put money in a slot, and a toy entitled 'The Imperial Institute Box of Bricks price £250,000' . The box shows the Institute buildings in South Kensington, of which only the central tower, the Queen's Tower, remains. The toy room also contains a model fire engine, a theatre, toy soldiers, a sailing boat, broken dolls, a doll's house and toy horses. The Indian dolls are probably a reference to the British Raj.
